Seminar on the Innovation and Development of Research Institutes, organized by the Department of Policy, Regulations and Reform, was held from August 14 to August 16 in Binhai New District of Tianjin. Over 120 representatives from 106 backbone research institutes dedicated to R&D of industrial technology and innovative technologies for national defense were present at the event. The seminar aims to bring S&T into full play and facilitate the fast and sustained economic development as proposed by the State Council, enhance the indigenous innovative capability of research institutes, and further strengthen industrial S&T progress and structural adjustment.

During the seminar, Secretary of Tianjin Municipal Party Committee Zhang Gaoli met with the representatives. So far, Tianjin and MOST have organized about 100 national seminars for research institutes.
