On September 25, the fourth meeting of Mainland-HK S&T Cooperation Commission was held in Beijing. The Vice Minister of MOST CAO Jianlin and Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of Hong Kong Government Rita Lau Ng Wai Lan addressed the event. Over 50 representatives from both sides attended.

During the meeting, representatives highly affirmed the S&T cooperation between Hong Kong and Mainland during the past two years. Significant progresses have been made in the following aspects:

·energy conservation and environmental protection and nano-technology;

·construction of state key laboratories in Hong Kong, and the formation of proposal submission procedures and management methods; and

·more participation of Hong Kong’s researchers in key S&T programs, such as 863 Program and 973 Program.
