Vice Minister of MOST LI Xueyong met with American Deputy Secretary of Energy Daniel B. Poneman on October 23 in Beijing. Both of them exchanged ideas on furthering cooperation in S&T and energy between China and America.
VM LI expressed his hope that governments, enterprises and research institutes of both countries could strengthen pragmatic cooperation in energy, climate change and some other fields within the framework of “Sino-US S&T cooperation protocol”, with an aim to realize win-win results. He also talked about the campaign of “thousands of clean energy vehicles for ten cities”, and the application of energy-efficient and environment-friendly technologies and the demo projects during the 2010 Shanghai World Expo.
In return, Deputy Secretary Poneman appreciated the efforts made by Chinese government. He pointed out that American Department of Energy was ready to facilitate cooperation with its Chinese counterparts in electrical vehicles and clean coal technology (including carbon capture and sequestration and integrated gasification combined cycle), and launch joint research and demo projects.
