MOST Minister WAN Gang met with German Delegation, headed by Governor of Nordrhein-Westfalen Jürgen Anton Rüttgers and Minister of State Cornelia Pieper on November 16, 2009.
The two sides exchanged ideas on promoting cooperation in science and technology and bilateral relations. Minister WAN proposed that the two sides could figure out the cooperation direction and facilitate cooperation between Nordrhein-Westfalen and different regions in China. In particular, WAN underlined cooperation in new energy, electric vehicles, medical engineering, environmentally-friendly technologies, nano- materials, and the like.
Governor Rüttgers made positive response to Minister WAN’s suggestions. He said that four major fields for the development of science and technology in Nordrhein-Westfalen had already been identifiedt: new energy, new materials, medical technology and bio-technology. Presidents from Ruhr-Universität Bochum, University of Cologne and RWTH Aachen University, who were also in the delegation, would give support to enhance cooperation between Germany and China.
