The 1st China Research and Information Technology Forum, organized by MOST, CAS, and National Natural Science Foundation (NNSF), was held in Beijing on December 3. The forum was chaired by CAS Vice President Shi Erwei, and attended by a host of leaders, including NPC Standing Committee Vice President and CAS President Lu Yongxiang, MOST Vice Minister LIU Yanhua, and NNSF Deputy Director He Minghong.

VM LIU delivered a speech Strengthening the Platform of Science and Technology, Improving Indigenous Innovation. During the speech, he elaborated upon the important characteristics of research activities in the new situations, and the duties of the government in developing IT-based research to support the growth of science and technology.
