The 17th Working Conference on Introducing Senior Japanese Experts was held on December 24, 2009 in Kunming. Over 150 participants from the Department of International Cooperation of MOST (DIC), China Science and Technology Exchange Center (CSTEC), JSV, JSVA, and other agencies were present at the conference. Deputy Director-General XU Chaoqian of DIC addressed the event. Deputy Director-General HE Wenping of CSTEC made a review to 2009. After the conference, Chinese and Japanese representatives exchanged ideas on over 200 projects and worked out a plan for 2010.

With the support of DIC, CSTEC had introduced over 4,400 senior experts from Japan by the end of 2009. All of the projects they brought to China have reaped significant economic and social benefits, playing an important role in improving technology and facilitating indigenous innovation in China.
