On January 12, the Awarding Ceremony of the Third Innovation Bases of Revitalizing Trade through Science and Technology and the Working Conference, organized by MOST and the Ministry of Commerce (MOC), was held in Beijing. MOST Vice Minister DU Zhanyuan and MOC Vice Minister Jiang Yaoping addressed the event. Over 200 people from relevant institutions attended the conference.

The third 20 newly-confirmed innovation bases were located in 15 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities, and cities with separate planning, covering electronic information, biomedicine, new energy, new materials, equipment manufacturing, and optical-mechanical-electronic integration. All of the 20 bases, with distinct specialties and strong innovation capacity, are the flagships in their own sector.
