The briefing on 2010 Spark Program and Agricultural Science Fruits was held from March 17 to March 18 in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. Over 100 people attended the event, including WANG Xiaofang, Director-General of MOST Department of Development Planning, JIA Jingdun, Deputy Director-General of MOST Department of Rural Science and Technology, and representatives from science and technology departments and bureaus of different provinces. The event was chaired by CAO Yihua, Deputy Director-General of MOST Department of Rural Science and Technology.

WANG made a report on the new demands for science and technology work during the twelfth Five-Year period; JIA analysed rural science and technology under new circumstances and put forward concrete requirements for next-step work; CAO described in detail the revisions of guidelines, and innovations in management of Spark Program. The attendants exchanged ideas on a host of issues in relation to the Spark Program, such as management methods and innovations, and commercialization of agricultural technological findings.
