MOST Minister WAN Gang met with Chairman of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources Jeff Bingaman on March 29 in Beijing. Both sides exchanged ideas on energy cooperation between China and the US, new energy and renewable energy in particular.
Minister WAN said that in order to tackle the global financial crisis and nurture new strategic industries, the Chinese government has launched a series of initiatives, including electrical vehicles project, PV power demonstration project and LED lighting project. He hoped that Senator Bingaman’s visit to China could further facilitate cooperation between China and the US in energy.
Senator Bingaman briefed Minister WAN on the natural gas reserves in shale of the U.S., and highlighted that he hoped to continue cooperation with China in IGCC and natural resources.
