The Groundbreaking Ceremony of Shock-resistant School Building in Ya’an City of Sichuan Province was held on April 15 at the original location of Yongquan County School. The project is financed by UN Human Settlements Program (UN-HABITAT), and undertaken by the Administrative Center for China’s Agenda 21 of MOST. There were over 100 people present at the event. Deputy Director-General ME Li of the Administrative Center, officials from UN-HABITAT, Sichuan Provincial Department of Science and Technology, China Architecture Design & Research Group, donors and more than 100 local representatives attended the ceremony.
The project, costing 1,500,000 RMB, is due to be finished at the end of July and put into use on September 1 this year.
