The International Cooperation Conference on Green Economy and Climate Change was organized by China Center for International Economic Exchanges from May 7 to 9, Beijing. CPPCC Vice Chairman and MOST Minister WAN Gang addressed the event.
In his keynote speech “Addressing Climate Change and Achieving Green Economic Development through Advancement in Science and Technology”, Minister WAN said MOST has always been attaching great importance to global climate change and green development through R&D investment, technology demonstration, and international cooperation.He said MOST is drafting National Science and Technology Development Plan and Special Project on Addressing Climate Change for the Twelfth Five Years, identifying targets and priorities in tackling climate change, and outlining a roadmap for green development. In the next five years, MOST will focus on three aspects in response to climate change and green development:
I. Strengthening innovation and breeding emerging industries;
II. Supporting energy conservation and emissions reduction, and upgrading traditional industries through high-tech development;
III. Increasing investment to address climate change through advancement in science and technology.
