A Meeting on Boosting Xinjiang through Science and Technology was chaired by Minister WAN Gang on June 4 in Beijing. Six agencies, including MOST, Ministry of Education, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Engineering, National Natural Science Foundation and China Association for Science and Technology participated in the discussion.

Assisting Xinjiang with science and technology is one of the five mechanisms to boost the autonomous region. The meeting aimed to coordinate actions, optimize resources, and give the leading role to science and technology in decision making concerning major projects, development models, ecological and environmental protection  and sustainable development in Xinjiang.
