Minister WAN Gang met with visiting Secretary-General of UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Dr. Supachai Panitchpakdi on Jun. 19. Dr. Supachai was on his trip to Wuxi to attend the Forum on Scientific Innovation and Future City of Shanghai World Expo due from Jun. 20 to Jun. 23.

WAN briefed the guest on the application of advanced technologies in various fields, including new energy vehicle, renewable energy, LED, intelligent transport system, RFID, etc. and the challenges facing China in energy, natural resources, environmental protection, public health and security. Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation under the framework of UNCTAD and its affiliated UN Center for Science and Technology for Devleopment (UNCSTD) in order to create more investment opportunities in energy conservation and environmental protection for developing countries and promote technology transfer.
