Minister WAN Gang of Science and Technology met with Valéochrie Péochcresse, French Minister of Higher Education and Research, and her delegation, including Dr. Bernard Debré, member of the French Parliament and urologist on July 5 in Beijing.
The two ministers exchanged ideas on the cooperation in science and technology between the two governments, addressing financial crisis through science and technology, university reform, technology transfer, genetically modified food, agricultural technology, intellectual property protection, disease prevention and control, and ITER. Both of them believed that science and technology cooperation between China and France would generate benefits to the world.
Minister WAN mentioned, in particular, the 30th anniversary of the inter-governmental S&T agreement in 2008. He appreciated Dr. Bernard Debré for his voluntary treatment of children in poverty-stricken areas in Jiangxi Province.
