The Special Council Meeting for ITER Organization was held inCadarache, France on July 28. MOST Vice Minister CAO Jianlin and representatives from EU, US, Japan, Russia, ROK and India were present at the event. Also present were officials from IAEA and divisions of ITER Organization.

The meeting approved the essential documents for ITER plan proposed by former Director-General Kaname Ikeda, appointed Osamu Motojima as the new Director-General, and discussed the executive structure for ITER Organization.

During the meeting, VM CAO met with US Deputy Secretary of Energy Daniel Poneman, who headed the US Delegation to the meeting, and discussed with him on the structure of ITER and science and technology collaboration between China and the US. VM CAO also met with IEA Deputy Director-General and visited Dassault Corporation.
