This year, MOST has launched research on S&T for the development of women and children to mark the 10th anniversary of National Program for Women’s Development (2001-2010) and National Program for Children’s Development (2001-2010).
Achievements have been made in analyzing women and children’s needs for science and technology in pursuing sustainable development, particularly physical and mental health, food safety, disaster reduction and prevention, pollution control, living environment, public security, etc. Researchers put forth development strategies and policies for boosting women and children’s development through science and technology. This will provide scientific basis for relevant institutions to develop and disseminate practical technologies for the benefit of women and children.
According to statistics, from 2001 to 2008, 180 projects have been approved for the research on women and children’s health, with a total investment of RMB386 million..
