International Seminar on Clean Coal Technology Held in Beijing |
The International Seminar on Clean Coal Technology, sponsored by the China Development Research Foundation, was held on Sept. 17 of 2010 at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing. Officials from the National Development and Reform Commission, MOST, Development Research Center of the State Council, and experts from the US, Japan, EU, domestic energy enterprises, universities, and research institutes were present at the event.
Participants had in-depth discussions on clean coal technology and utilization, in particular, the history and prospects for integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC). High efficient utilization of coal is an important way for China to adjust the energy mix and conserve energy. The first 250,000 kilowatt-IGCC demo project, completely designed and built by China itself, is to be up and running in 2011.
