The 7th ITER Council Meeting was held in Cadarache, France from Nov. 17 to 18 2010. Participants included Council members and experts from China, EU, the US, Russia, Japan, South Korea and India, as well as officials from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and relevant ITER branches. MOST Vice Minister CAO Jianlin attended the meeting.
Participants to the meeting listened to ITER Director-General Osamu Motojima’s report on work progress, and reports from the committees and working groups, reviewed documents submitted by the Director-General and the 2011 Work Plan, and discussed issues related to the ITER’s senior management. A new Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Council were elected, and Chairs and Vice Chairs of the four committees were also appointed.
During the meeting, VM CAO held a series of talks with Director-General Osamu Motojima, and representatives from the EU, South Korea, Japan, and the US. They discussed the ITER management structure, ITER’s progress so far, budget and management assessment, etc. Besides, CAO also attended the Milestone Ceremony for the ITER Headquarters.
