China-Pakistan Entrepreneurs Forum (CPEF), co-sponsored by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and Embassy of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, was held in Beijing on May 19, 2011. Minister Wan Gang and Prime Minister of Pakistan Yousaf Raza Gillani addressed the forum.
In his speech, Wan reviewed that since China and Pakistan signed sci-tech cooperation agreement in 1976, the two governments have held 16 intergovernmental joint commission meetings on science and technology, inking agreements in a range of fields, including meteorology, surveying and mapping, marine science, new energy and traditional medicine. Sci-tech collaboration has been driving economic development and fostering partnerships between the two countries. In the future, the two will continue to work together, especially in the fields of energy, infrastructure, communications and agriculture, in a bid to consolidate their economic ties.
