At the invitation of Dr.Ching-Yen Tsay, Chairman of Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), Vice Minister Cao Jianlin, as Vice Chairman of Chinese Optical Society, led a delegation to Taiwan from May 29th to June 4th.
As the first ministerial official from MOST to visit Taiwan in recent ten years, VM Cao was warmly received by the scientific and industrial communities in Taiwan. During his visit, VM Cao exchanged opinions with leaders of Taiwan scientific and economic departments and major research institutes on establishing mechanism for S&T cooperation across the Straits. The S&T cooperation was believed by Taiwan scientific community to be rather essential for enhancing economic, scientific and technological competitiveness, complementing each other and generating benefits to the people. VM Cao gave positive response to the proposal by the Taiwan colleagues to strengthen ties with relative agencies of MOST to boost S&T cooperation.
