The 6th China-UK Joint Committee on Intergovernmental S&T Cooperation was held successfully in Beijing on June 7th. Minister Wan Gang and David Willetts, British Minister of State for University and Science of Department of Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), co-chaired this event.
In the meeting, Minister Wan and Minister of State Willetts spoke highly of the important role of S&T innovation cooperation in bilateral partnership, and expressed the willingness to enhance collaboration. The two sides exchanged opinions on the latest development of science and innovation policies in the two countries, including China's 12th five-year S&T Plan and UK's growth plan. The two also reviewed the bilateral cooperation in high-level visits, cooperative programs and mechanisms since the 5th meeting in 2008, and discussed the prospects and measures in future collaboration.
Both sides identified new priority areas for cooperation in the next two years.
A minutes was signed after the meeting, identifying the priority areas and cooperative mechanisms in future innovation collaboration.
