Vice Minister Chen Xiaoya attended the opening ceremonyfor China-Chile seminar on renewable energy and agricultural product processing technology in Beijing on June 27th. More than 90 participants attended this event, including Director of Chilean National Science and Technology Commission Jose Aguirela and representatives and experts from the two governments.
VM Chen said that this meeting is to implement the consensus reached between Chinese State Councilor Ms. Liu Yandong and Chilean President Sebastian Pinera during Liu's visit at the end of 2010 and is bound to promote practical cooperation.
Chen stressed that facing the severe challenges such as climate change, food crisis and energy shortage, the developing countries including China and Chile should enhance innovation cooperation and work together to promote sustainable development and improve people's livelihood. Chen also briefed the guests on China's innovation policies and latest development in science and technology.
