The Urumqi Foreign Economic Relations and Trade Fair will be upgraded to China-Eurasia Expo since this year. The event will be jointly sponsored by 27 ministries and government agencies, including Xinjiang Autonomous Region People's Government, Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Development and Reform Commission and MOST.

The first expo will be held in Urumqi from September 1st to 5th. A forum on S&T exchange and cooperation, co-sponsored by MOST and Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, will be held during the expo, with the theme of "enhancing cooperation in sci-tech innovation, promoting regional economic development".
