Vice Minister Wang Weizhong met with Paul Anastas, the assistant administrator of United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on August 4th.
Anastas expressed that EPA think highly of its sci-tech cooperation with MOST on environmental protection, being fully aware of China's excellent professional team in sustainable technologies such as green chemistry and green engineering, and with to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of air, climate, energy, sustainable water resources, chemical safety, etc. VM Wang said that green chemistry and green engineering have great bearing on human health and sustainable development. MOST will, on the basis of mutual benefit and respect of IPR, work with the US to look for the possibilities to build a joint research center on green chemistry and green engineering.
Wang also suggest that the two sides set up a joint working group as soon as possible to work on the renewal of MOU on sci-tech cooperation for environmental protection.
