The 1st China-US Young Scientists Forum was held in Beijing on August 5th. Vice Minister Wang Zhixue and Chargé d'Affaires of US Embassy Robert Wang addressed the launching ceremony. Young scientists from 16 Chinese research institutes and 39 American universities discussed a number of issues including sci-tech innovation in the forum.
This forum, co-sponsored by MOST and the U.S. Embassy, is an important outcome achieved by State Councilor Liu Yandong and U.S. State Secretary Hillary Clinton in the second round of high-level consultation meeting on China-US people-to-people exchange last April.
With the support of MOST and U.S. National Science Foundation, the American participants to the forum finished their two-month study in Chinese host organizations.
The 2nd forum will be held in Washington this fall.
