The 11th Meeting of China-South Korea Joint Committee on Intergovernmental Science and Technology Cooperation was held in Beijing on November 23nd, 2011. Minister Wan Gang and South Korean Minister of Education, Science and Technology Ju-Ho Lee co-chaired the event.
The two sides reviewed the scientific and technological cooperation and exchange in the past 20 years since the two countries established diplomatic relations, agreeing that with the joint effort of both sides, the S&T cooperation has been expanding and has become an important part of bilateral partnership.
The two also approved Joint Research Projects (2011-2012), identifying the priority fields (2012-2013) as new materials/nanophase materials, renewable energy/smart grid, biotechnology. They also exchanged opinions on the development of joint research center and the exchange among researchers. The two sides reached consensus on enhancing cooperation on fusion energy research. On behalf of the two ministries, Minister Wan Gang and Minister Ju-Ho Lee signed the Implementing Agreement on China-South Korea Fusion Research Cooperation.
