Under the framework of UN Climate Change Conference, a side event supported by the Department of International Cooperation of MOST and organized by Xiamen University and CSTEC was held in Durban on December 1st, 2011.
The officers from the Department of International Cooperation of MOST briefed the participants on China's policies and progress on international cooperation in science and technology to address climate change, particularly South-South S&T Cooperation. The representatives from Beijing Normal University, Beijing Institute of Technology, CSTEC and Carnegie Endowment for International Peace made keynote speeches on the challenge of climate change, South-South S&T cooperation for addressing climate change, clean utilization of coal resources, etc.
The 2nd edition of Applicable Technology Manual: South-South Cooperation on Science and Technology to Address Climate Change prefaced by Minister Wan Gang was issued at the meeting. The event also launched International Science and Technology Cooperation Platform for Addressing Climate Change and disseminated the Beijing Declaration on South-South cooperation for climate change.
