The side event on China-France Rural CDM Pilot Project and Capacity Building was held at the UN Climate Change Conference in Durban on December 3rd, 2011. The event was jointly organized by the Administrative Centre for China's Agenda 21 (ACCA21), French Global Environment Facility (FFEM) and French Development Agency (AFD).
The project team members briefed the participants on China's policies on energy-saving, emission-reducing technologies as well as the CDM project's progress, sharing the experience of China-France Rural CDM Project with African countries and discussing the feasibility of cooperating with African countries on carbon emission reduction technologies.
The project aims to make use of the mechanism of CDM and voluntary emission reduction, so as to promote the carbon emission reduction and sustainable development in southwest rural area of China. The project has been underway for one year, and has achieved good outcomes. Next step is to launch technology exchanging activities in Southeast Asia, so as to further promote the South-South cooperation for addressing climate change.
