On October 22nd, the 2013 International R&D Institution Mission to Chongqing & Liangjiang Innovation Forum hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and Chongqing Municipal People‘s Government was launched in Chongqing. Throughout the whole year in 2013, the Mission to Chongqing has held 44 activities, including high and new technology B2B meetings, new product development seminars, international academic exchanges and high-level government forums etc. From Oct 22nd to Oct 25th, fourteen theme activities have been held, including the 5th China-Korea International Science and Technology Innovation Forum, Mission to Chongqing Conference & Liangjiang International S&T Innovation Forum, China-U.K. Advanced Manufacturing and Material B2B Meeting, China-EU Forum on Science and Technology Innovation Promotion, Chongqing-Taiwan S&T Cooperation and Exchange Seminar, Chongqing-HK Advanced and Practical Technology B2B Meeting and S&T Diplomat Roundtable Conference, as well as presentations given by S&T diplomats etc.
Since 2009, MOST and Chongqing Municipal People’s Government have jointly launched twice the International R&D Institution Mission to Chongqing. This platform has attracted over 600 R&D Institutions, over 500 well-known universities and over ten thousands experts at home and abroad from more than 40 countries and regions to carry out technological exchanges with Chongqing. Besides, over 20 overseas top R&D institutions have settled in Chongqing, more than 100 foreign prestigious research institutions have conducted cooperation with Chongqing and over 2000 foreign technologies have been introduced to Chongqing. All these have promoted international S&T cooperation and exchanges in Chongqing.
Mr. Jin Xiaoming, Director General of the Department of International Cooperation of MOST, attended the meeting and made his remark. Mr. Wang Yuan, Executive Vice-president of Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development, Mr. Ma Zhengang, former Chinese Ambassador to U.K. and Mr. Lu Qiutian, former Chinese Ambassador to Germany delivered keynote speeches at the Liangjiang Innovation Forum.
