Sponsored by the Department of International Cooperation of Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and organized by China Rural Technology Development Center, the International Training Course on TTF Entrepreneurship in Rural Areas was held in Beijing from Oct 11th to 26th, 2013. Nineteen trainees from ministries of science and technology and ministries of agriculture of 15 countries like Ethiopia, Kenya, Laos and Cambodia attended the 15-day training. During the training course, relevant experts, scholars and outstanding front-line TTF commissioners have been invited to introduce the experience in establishing the system of TTF Entrepreneurship in Rural Areas as well as its implementation. Vice Minister Zhang attended the opening ceremony and gave the first lecture to the trainees. He briefed on the background, characteristics and accomplishments of China’s TTF Entrepreneurship in Rural Areas, and elaborated on the guidelines, policies and promotion of TTF system. He also stressed China’s philosophy and principle in carrying out TTF international cooperation with developing countries, and encouraged them to map out their own TTF policies and mechanisms in light of real understanding and emphasis on TTF as well as their national conditions. Vice Minister Zhang said that MOST stood ready to help when these countries got fully prepared, and to work with all countries to help farmers in Asian and African developing countries get rid of poverty and realize UN Millennium Development Goals. As one of the 2013 Technical Training Courses for Developing Countries, this training course was held by the Department of International Cooperation of MOST to strengthen South-South cooperation and promote TTF international cooperation. Mr. Jia Jingdun, Director General of China Rural Technology Development Center, Mr. Xu Chaoqian, Deputy Director General of the Department of International Cooperation of MOST and representatives from China Science and Technology Exchange Center also attended the opening and closing ceremonies and other activities.
