On December 2, Vice Minister Cao Jianlin met with Mr. Mateo Budinich, President of National Commission of Scientific and Technological Research of Chile (CONICYT). The two sides exchanged views on improving China-Chile S&T cooperation and signed the 2014-2016 Action Plan.
Vice Minister Cao said that after signing S&T cooperation agreement, the two countries have witnessed substantive development in science and technology collaboration, and the inter-governmental mechanism in this regard has been improved. He also mentioned the fruitful achievements between the two countries in astronomy, seismic technology and polar sciences, and said that China was ready to expand cooperation with Chile and promote pragmatic results.
Mr. Mateo Budinich agreed with Minister Cao, saying that Chile has much to learn from China for its experiences in realizing eye-catching accomplishment in economy, science and technology. He also hoped that the two countries could avail of the historic opportunity to elevate S&T cooperation to a higher level.
Mr. Luis Schmidt, Chilean Ambassador to China, and Mr. Ma Linying, Deputy Director General of the Department of International Cooperation of MOST, attended the meeting.
