On March 17, 2014, Minister Wan Gang met with Lao delegation led by Minister Boviengkham Vongdara. The two sides exchanged views on accelerating China-Laos science, technology, and innovation cooperation under the framework of China-ASEAN Science and Technology Partnership Program.
At the meeting, the two sides reviewed projects under the framework of Partnership Program and expressed their satisfaction with the achievements. Minister Wan pointed out that China-Laos S&T cooperation has witnessed constant breakthroughs since the launching of the Partnership Program. The two sides have worked to establish renewable energy joint lab and modern agricultural science park, initiated the building of remote sensing satellite data sharing and service platform and technology transfer center, and organized outstanding Lao scientists to work in China. China hopes that these projects could enhance Lao S&T capacity in new energy, modern agriculture and space technology, as well as promote Lao economic and social development.
Minister Boviengkham thanked Minister Wan’s care for China-Laos S&T cooperation and highly commended China’s pragmatic attitude and efficient action for cooperation. Devoted to pushing forward China-Laos STI cooperation, Minister Boviengkham called for building upon past progress to further collaboration in radar technology and S&T information etc.
Minister Wan invited Minister Boviengkham to lead a delegation to the 2nd Forum on China-ASEAN Technology Transfer and Collaborative Innovation this September, while the latter accepted the invitation.
Mr. Xu Chaoqian, DDG of the Department of International Cooperation and Vice Head of Embassy of Laos in China also attended the meeting.
