Vice Minister Cao Meets with Deputy Chief Executive of MBIE New Zealand

 

On May 26, 2014, Vice Minister Cao Jianlin met with New Zealand’s delegation led by Mr. Paul Stocks, deputy chief executive of Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment.
Vice Minister Cao gave a snapshot of recent development and major achievements of Chinese S&T, spoke highly of China-New Zealand S&T cooperative system and outcomes as well as the important role it plays in bilateral relations, and briefed on recent cooperation progress. He hoped that the two sides could learn from each other in priority fields such as food security and collaborate in a closer manner.
Stocks expressed that New Zealand attached great importance to developing relations with China. As one of the biggest overseas institutes, New Zealand Embassy to China also added the position of counselor for science and innovation this year, with a view to promoting China-New Zealand S&T cooperation and exchanges. Stocks agreed with Minister Cao’s evaluation on China-New Zealand S&T cooperation and hoped to see greater commercialization of joint research findings so as to benefit the people of two countries.
Mr. Sun Chengyong, counselor of the Department of S&T for Social Development and Mr. Cai Jianing, counselor of the Department of International Cooperation, attended the meeting.
