Minister Wan Meets with Former U.S. Energy Secretary Steven CHU

 

On December 1, 2014, Minister Wan Gang met with former U.S. Secretary of Energy, Stanford professor Steven Chu and his delegation.
 
Minister Wan reviewed the efforts made by Steven CHU when the U.S.-China Clean Energy Research Center (CERC) was founded in 2009 and updated him on its latest development. The Phase II cooperation of CERC has been included in the achievement list of Head of State‘s meeting in 2009 and the China-U.S. Joint Statement on Climate Change. Professor Steven Chu briefed on his ongoing new energy research, application and demonstration, and listened to Minister Wan’s suggestions on Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS). The two sides exchanged views on various issues such as S&T cooperation on Energy and Water and effective energy conservation incentives.

The attending Chinese officials were DDG CHEN Jiachang from the the Department of High and New Technology Development and Industrialization, DDG Chen Linhao from the Department of International Cooperation and Counsellor SUN Chengyong from Department of S&T for Social Development, while the US delegates were Energy Foundation CEO Eric Heitz and Inventys Thermal Technologies CEO Andre Boulet.
