Fifth Training Workshop on Chinese Medicine Quality Appraisal Held in Macau

 

The Fifth Training Workshop on Quality Appraisal of Chinese Medicine was held in Macau from March 28 to April 1, 2016. The training workshop was co-organised by the China Science and Technology Exchange Centre (CSTEC) and the Macao Science and Technology Development Fund, and co-hosted by Macau University of Science and Technology and University of Macau.

Mr. Chui Sai Peng, Vice Chairman of Macau Science and Technology Council, Mr. Ma Chi Ngai, Chairman of the Macau Science and Technology Development Fund, Ms. Wang Yan, Deputy Director General of CSTEC, Xu Jun, Vice-Ministerial Assistant at the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR, Dr. Lei Chin Ion, Director of Macau Health Bureau, Prof. Liu Liang, President of Macau University of Science and Technology, Prof. Rui Martin, Vice Rector of the University of Macau, Prof. Zhou Ligao, Chairman of University Council of the Macau University of Science and Technology, and Mr. Xie Yi, Deputy CEO of Guangdong-Macau Traditional Chinese Medicine Technology Industrial Park Development Co., Ltd, attended the opening ceremony. The training workshop received support from the MOST Office of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Affairs, China National Center for Biotechnology Development, and local S&T management departments.

33 trainees participated in the workshop, including 23 from the mainland and 10 from Macau.  Lectures were given on the development trend of China’s TCM industry, establishment of quality standards as well as the latest technologies about quality test and control. The trainers and trainees had enthusiastic discussion and exchanges during the workshop, producing good results.

As an important part of the framework under the Committee for Science and Technology Collaboration between Macau and the Mainland, the training workshop aims to provide an open and interconnected platform and build a long-term mechanism to facilitate exchange and cooperation in the TCM research between Macau and the mainland China and expedite the modernization and international development of TCM.
