On June 6, China-US Science Park Innovation Cooperation Forum , a science and technology side event of the 7th China-US High-Level Consultation on People-to-People Exchange (CPE), was held in Beijing. The forum was hosted by the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology and organized by the Management Committee of Zhangjiang High-tech Park in Shanghai under the theme of “exploring new models of innovation and cooperation between Chinese and American science parks for win-win outcomes”. Yin Hejun, Vice Minister of Science and Technology of China, and Jacob Parker, Vice President of China Operations of US-China Business Council, addressed the forum.

Vice Minister Yin said that as an important S&T side event of this round of CPE, the forum aims to leverage the complementarity of the two sides to explore new models of innovation and cooperation of science parks. The Ministry of Science and Technology is ready to continue to promote science and technology exchange and cooperation between Chinese and American science parks, explore the mechanism of science park exchanges, mobilize the full strengths of the two countries’ innovation resources and jointly build the system of science and technology innovation. Vice President Parker said that the US-China Business Council is willing to explore opportunities of cooperation with Chinese science parks and promote exchanges between enterprises and research institutions of the two countries.

Representatives from Chinese and American universities and enterprises delivered keynote speeches on such topics as the carrier of science and technology innovation, the role of policies in promoting innovation as well as innovation in science financing. The Management Committee of Zhangjiang High-tech Science Park, its affiliated parks and enterprises as well as the relevant social organizations, universities and enterprises from the US side attended the forum.
