On June 4, 2016, Dr. Wan Gang,the Minister of MOST, met with Dr. John Holdren, Assistant to the President for Science and Technology and Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and the U.S. Ambassador to China Max Baucus in Beijing.
Minister Wan introduced the National Science and Technology Innovation Conference concluded a week ago, saying the conference will further unleash wisdom and strength of the whole society and accelerate implementation of the innovation-driven development strategy. Minister Wan also introduced the newly-released National Outline on Innovation-driven Development Strategy.
Dr. Holdren introduced the U.S. National Innovation Strategy (3rd edition) released in 2015. He said that both sides highly value the importance of innovation to national socioeconomic development, proposing both sides to start comparative studies on innovation strategy.
The two sides reviewed the progress made in clean energy, health, agriculture and other areas since the 6th China-U.S. Innovation Dialogue in June last year, hoping to further advance bilateral cooperation in S&T innovation through platforms of China-U.S.Joint Committee on S&T Cooperation and China-U.S. Innovation Dialogue.
