On 24 June 2016, the first meeting of the sub-committee of the China-Belarus Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee on science and technology cooperation was held in Minsk, the capital of Belarus. The Chinese co-chair of the sub-committee, Vice Minister of Science and Technology Yin Hejun, and the Belarusian co-chair of the sub-committee, Chairman of the State Science and Technology Committee of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Shumilin, jointly presided over the meeting. Chinese Ambassador to Belarus Cui Qiming attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the two sides briefed each other on their respective national policies for scientific and technological innovation, exchanged views and reached consensus on furthering China-Belarus cooperation on scientific and technological innovation, jointly supporting cooperation projects on scientific research, and using cooperation on scientific and technological innovation to support the development of China-Belarus industrial parks. The two sides agreed to promote the exchanges of scientific personnel, jointly support research projects, advance the building of joint laboratories, joint R&D centers and other platforms of science and technology cooperation based on concrete projects, match the science parks of the two countries and continue to support science and technology cooperation at sub-national levels. The two sides also agreed on the list of cooperation projects on science and technology for the coming two years.
The Chinese delegation also visited Belarus Precision Electronic Machinery Manufacturing and Design Bureau, China-Belarus Industrial Park and Brest State Technical University.
According to the agreement of the two sides, the second meeting of the sub-committee will be held in 2018 in China.
