The second sub-committee meeting on scientific and technological cooperation between China and Ukraine was held in Kyiv on 23 June 2016. The meeting was chaired by Yin Hejun, Vice Minister of Science and Technology of China, and Maxim Strikha, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine. Chinese Ambassador to Ukraine Du Wei also addressed the meeting.
The two sides introduced respective S&T policies and current developments. They exchanged views and reached consensus on furthering bilateral cooperation on S&T innovation. They agreed to promote mutually beneficial cooperation in S&T parks and the transfer and translation of technologies; support joint R&D between and among research institutions, higher learning institutions, enterprises and other innovation actors in priority areas as agreed upon by the two sides. Efforts would be made to facilitate joint R&D, share research facilities, exchange research personnel and share information within the framework of the “Belt and Road” initiative; further people-to-people exchanges by such means as joint S&T activities. The two sides also agreed on the list of bilateral S&T cooperation projects for 2017-2018.
Both sides agreed that the third meeting will be held in 2018 in China.
Aside from the meeting., the Chinese delegation visited the E.O. Paton Electric Welding Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and other organizations.
