Minister Wan Gang received a visiting Egyptian delegation led by Ashraf Shihi, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research on August 15th, 2016. The two sides exchanged views on further scientific cooperation between China and Egypt.
Wan noted that China and Egypt have long-standing friendly cooperation. In recent years, the two countries have had multiple exchanges of high-level visits and cooperation. Wan congratulated on the successful conclusion of the 7th China-Egypt Joint Committee Meeting on cooperation in science and technology (S&T). He said the present session had laid a foundation for practical S&T cooperation in the new era. The meeting also helped identify the future direction and turn a new chapter of bilateral scientific cooperation.
The Egyptian Minister said his ministry has just finished drafting of the national strategic plan on scientific innovation - the Vision 2030. The plan emphasizes the enabling role of scientific innovation in socio-economic development. China’s technological aid to Egypt and the bilateral S&T cooperation will effectively help Egypt build up its capacity for sustainable development.
The two sides also discussed about joint research, science parks, personnel exchange, and personnel training. Both would follow up on the consensus reached between the top leaders of the two countries and promote further cooperation for real accomplishments.
