On 25 August 2016, ten days before the G20 Hangzhou Summit, Report on the G20 National Innovation Competitiveness and Research Report on Economic Focus of G20, were released in Beijing. The China Science and Technology Exchange Center (CSTEC) contributed to the drafting of the two reports.
The Yellow Book of G20 National Innovation Competitiveness (2015-2016), is the outcome of a joint research team composed of Fujian Normal University, CSTEC and other organizations. The Book, based on the actual progress of innovation development of G20 members, establishes an indicator system for measuring the national innovation competitiveness of G20 countries (including 1 level-1 indicators, 5 level-2 indicators and 33 level-3 indicators) as well as related mathematic models. This is the fourth such report since its launch in 2010.
The Yellow Book released this time features the input from the Institute of International Strategy of the CPC Central Party School and the China Institute of Science and Technology Evaluation. Based on the statistics of 2013 and 2014, it presents evaluation and analysis of the national innovation competitiveness of G20 member countries. The report puts the US, the UK and Japan on the top three positions. Ranking No. 9, China is the only developing country that makes to the top ten. This shows that the implementation of the Innovation-driven Development Strategy in recent years has notable impacts on China’s national innovation competitiveness.
