The Platform of Electric Vehicle Commercialization passed acceptance check in Beijing recently. The Project was funded by the National Key Technology R&D Program during the 12th Five-Year Plan period (2011-2015).
Launched in 2013, the Project was organized by the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission and implemented by the Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co., Ltd. (the BAIC Group). New chassis of shapes and structures tailored to electric drive were developed together with a novel vehicle R&D platform. Twenty-five prototypes of electric vehicles were made and all obtained official approvals for market access. The Platform was also capable of testing spare parts under changing circumstances, performance of whole vehicles, the power systems and the high-voltage safety. It established a post-sales service system. Electric vehicles developed on the platform have a curb weight of 998kg, a maximum speed of over 120km/h and a driving range of over 150km under normal conditions. The Project also developed capacity of large-scale vehicle production with an annual output of 40,000 units.
