On October 18, 2016, the Sixth Session of Fusion Subcommittee was convened in Kyoto, Japan under China-Europe Treaty on R&D Cooperation for Peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy. The meeting fully recognized the efforts made by both parties in the past five years under the Cooperation Plan 2013-2020 as well as the great progress and achievements of Fusion Subcommittee in the past year, emphasizing the importance of China-Europe fusion bilateral cooperation to the ITER project and realization of fusion development and exploitation.
During the meeting, representatives of both sides gave reports on the latest developments of fusion research in terms of management and technology. Through adequate communication and exchange in advance, participants finalized the text of “technology management plan” aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in fusion demonstration reactor research and related areas, with the plan signed at the meeting.
The event is a satellite meeting held during the 26th IAEA Fusion Energy Conference. Director General of Chinese ITER DA Luo Delong headed the Chinese delegation to the meeting in Japan.
