On November 7, 2016, Vice Minister of Science and Technology Huang Wei met with a visiting delegation led by Dr. Rush Holt, Chief Executive Officer of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (“AAAS”) and Executive Publisher of the Science family of journals. The two sides exchanged views on promoting exchanges in science and technology and reached agreement on future collaboration.

Vice Minister Huang Wei briefed the visiting guests on the status quo of China-US cooperation in science and technology and the scientific and technological advances in China. He said that the National Conference on Science and Technology Innovation held this year was a grand event at a new historical starting point of development in China and a call was made for prioritizing scientific and technological innovation and speeding up the implementation of an innovation-driven development strategy. Vice Minister Huang Wei pointed out that the Chinese side is willing to learn from other countries including the United States on their experiences and practices, engage in cooperation with its US counterpart in the areas of basic research and personnel exchanges and make contributions to scientific and technological progress.

Dr. Rush Holt introduced to the Chinese host about AAAS and the Science family of journals. He expressed the willingness to further ties with the Chinese side, innovate modes of cooperation, conduct exchanges in areas of common concern and create favorable environment for scientific research.
