The 10th Meeting of the Mainland-Macao Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation was successfully held in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province on October 18th, 2016. The meeting was attended by more than 60 members from the Mainland and Macao. The Mainland side was headed by Yin Hejun, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology; and the Macao side by Chui Sai Peng, the Macao Chairman of the Committee. The meeting was chaired by Ye Dongbai, head of the Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs of the Ministry of Science and Technology. Ma Chi Ngai, Chairman of the Administrative Committee of the Macao Science and Technology Development Fund (which serves as the Macao Liaison Office of the Mainland-Macao Science and Technology Cooperation Committee) delivered a work report. On behalf of the Mainland-Macao Science and Technology Cooperation Committee, Deputy Director General Wang Yan of the China Science and Technology Exchange Center (which serves as the Mainland Liaison Office of the Mainland-Macao Science and Technology Cooperation Committee) submitted a work plan for the next year.
At the meeting, all member organizations of the Mainland-Macao Science and Technology Cooperation Committee respectively reported on their work progress. The two sides deliberated on the work report for 2015-2016 and the work plan for 2016-2017 and reached consensus.
On October 6th, 2005, the Ministry of Science and Technology of China and the Science and Technology Commission of the Macao Special Administrative Region signed an agreement on establishing a committee on science and technology cooperation between the Mainland and Macao. So far, the two sides have successively held ten meetings of the Mainland-Macao Science and Technology Cooperation Committee. Over the past ten years, under the principle of“one country, two systems”, the Cooperation Committee has continuously improved forms of cooperation, expanded areas of cooperation and raised the level of cooperation between the Mainland and Macao. In the future, science and technology cooperation between the two sides is expected to contribute more to China’s innovation drive.
