The 7th China-Italy Innovation & Cooperation Week kicked off on October 25th, 2016 at the City of Science, Naples. The three-day event was jointly sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology and the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research, and co-organized by the Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission, the China-Italy Technology Transfer Center, the City of Science of Naples, the University of Naples, the University of Bologna and the University of Bergamo. The event opened in Naples, and parallel sessions were staged in Bologna and Bergamo. The first day was highlighted by a series of activities like the introduction of outstanding startup projects, a signing ceremony, the launch of China-Italy innovation and entrepreneurship contest as well as the inauguration of the Office of China-Italy Technology Transfer Center in Naples. 
　　
With the theme of joining hands for innovation and win-win results, the 7th  China-Italy Innovation & Cooperation Week highlighted key technologies and core resources and attracted more than 310 Chinese institutions from 25 provinces and cities like Beijing, Hebei, Shanghai, Chongqing and Jiangsu. Among the Chinese participants there were 26 universities like the Peking University, the Fudan University, 26 research institutes like Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and China Academy of Space Technology, and over 140 enterprises like Huawei, as well as over 60 S&T departments from places like Jiangsu and Chongqing. Over 530 Chinese representatives and more than 1,000 Italian representatives took part in the event. Activities during the cooperation week included high-end forums, parallel sessions, project sessions, innovation achievements exhibition as well as tours to local R&D zones.

The cooperation week featured roadshow competitions between Chinese and Italian startup businesses. A total of 20 teams, largely composed of young members born after the year 1980, brought to potential investors and incubators innovative projects on drone, biomedical engineering, 3D printing, soft matter, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.

The Innovation Week is held alternately in the two countries every year, and has developed into an important platform to mobilize resources of science, technology and innovation. Through the annual event, over 2,500 Chinese and Italian enterprises have developed more than 3,900 technology projects, reached 500 plus preliminary intents of cooperation, and launched some 80 cooperative projects in the fields of energy conservation, environmental protection, biopharmaceuticals and electronic information.
