Li Meng, Vice Minister of Science and Technology of China, met with Ofir Akunis, Israeli Minister of Science, Technology and Space, in Tel Aviv on November 20th, 2016. The two talked about the need to increase bilateral S&T innovation cooperation and to explore new models and expand new areas of cooperation in the next stage. The two sides agreed to deepen cooperation in joint research projects, explore the possibilities of developing flagship projects, joint laboratories and promote personnel exchange. Next year a China-Israel symposium on brain science and a forum of Nobel laureates are to be held in China to promote people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. The two also agreed to jointly prepare for the third meeting of China-Israel Joint Committee on Innovation Cooperation.
The meeting was also attended by Ye Dongbai, Director General at the MOST’s Department of International Cooperation; Xu Jing, Director General of the MOST’s Department of Innovation and Development; Dai Guoqiang, Director General of the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China; Cui Yuting, S&T counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Israel; and Alexander Bligh, Chief Scientist, Israeli Ministry of Science, Technology and Space.
