On the morning of November 21st of 2016, Vice Minister Yin Hejun of the Ministry of Science and Technology met with a visiting Iranian delegation led by Dr. Ahmadi, Deputy Minister for Research & Technology. The two sides exchanged views and reached consensus on pragmatically pushing forward bilateral cooperation in science, technology and innovation.
Vice Minister Yin Hejun welcomed the visit of the Deputy Minister and briefed the Iranian side on China’s innovation-driven development strategy and the mandate of the Ministry of Science and Technology. Yin pointed out that cooperation in science and technology is an integral part of the China-Iran relation and both sides have been committed in supporting exchanges and cooperation in the fields of nanotechnology, information technology, biology, healthcare, agriculture and science parks. He said that China is willing to promote substantive cooperation with Iran, expand personnel exchanges, explore mechanisms of joint research funding, and promote pragmatic cooperation in science and innovation on a bilateral basis.
Deputy Minister Ahmadi said that the Iranian government highly values science, technology and education and has made great efforts to develop high-tech industries in recent years. That has enabled the country to make achievements in the fields of electronic information, nanomaterial, biology and aerospace, and in the same time trained many R&D professionals. He pointed out that Iran will further deepen cooperation with China in science, technology and innovation, enhance communication and strengthen cooperation and exchanges in personnel training, capacity building, and science park development among other fields to support national socio-economic development and further bilateral ties.
