The China-UK Roundtable Meeting on STI Cooperation Strategies, sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and the British Ministry of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), was held in Shanghai on December 6th, 2016. Over 70 representatives from governments, think tanks, research institutes, universities and businesses attended the meeting. Discussion focused on the deepening of bilateral cooperation in science, technology,innovation and personnel exchanges.
Representatives exchanged ideas about the strategy of bilateral innovation cooperation, and how to develop platforms for joint research and innovation, new modalities and mechanisms for collaborative innovation, etc. Such productive discussions helped identify new ideas and possibilities of developing new highlights of innovation cooperation.
The meeting is part of activities held within the framework of the 4th Meeting of China-UK High-level People-to-People Exchange Mechanism. The Mechanism was established in 2012 and presently covers nine areas of cooperation in education, culture, science and technology, health, and sports among others.
