Jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and the People’s Government of Guangdong Province, the 2016 China (Dongguan) International Science & Technology Cooperation Week was held in Dongguan, Guangdong Province on December 9, 2016. Yuan Baocheng, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province and Jin Xiaoming, Director General of International Cooperation of MOST attended and addressed the opening ceremony.
With a theme of “Technology-Led Sharing & Opening”, the 2016 China (Dongguan) International Science & Technology Cooperation Week focused on robots, intelligent equipment, 3D printing, new energy vehicles, aerospace and aviation, energy conservation, environmental protection and other new technologies. Integrated with projects, technology, funds, talent and other elements of innovation, the 2016 Cooperation Week strove to establish a more effective and more influential platform for international scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation at a higher level and push forward business activities in technological innovation and industrial upgrading.
Since 2004, the annual Cooperation Week has been held for 12 times, establishing close ties of science and technology cooperation with more than 20 countries and regions, attracting a cumulative total of 550,000 person-times of visitors and promoting the conclusion of over 2,000 cooperation projects of various types. The Cooperation Week has now become an international science and technology cooperation platform which is based in Dongguan but serves Guangdong and even the whole country and has played an active role in pooling innovation resources from both home and abroad and pushing forward regional science and innovation, as well as industrial transformation and upgrading.
